The former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kinjuri has today launched a new party, The Service party of Kenya (TSP).
The embattled politician who has been on a political holiday for a while now, since his unceremonious sacking as the CS for Agriculture by President Uhuru Kenyatta, had promised to make a political comeback.
“Our Party is about service and we believe in working for the people of Kenya. This party will be an alternative voice to Kenyans,” said Kinjuri.
The besieged leader said the party is coming in as an outfit to serve the common mwananchi and in preparations for the 2022 general polls.
Kiunjuri also said that the party will be launched on a date to be communicated after the Covid-19 cloud clears.

“TSP is a now a registered party by the registrar of parties. We have taken the past few months to recruit members to make sure we form or influence government decision making,” he added.
The former CS who had fallen in the bad books of his former boss- President Uhuru Kenyatta had in his outgoing remarks maintained that he would return to political action soon.
“I have a lot to offer. I will continue to serve faithfully in other capacities. Make no mistake, I am not going anywhere,” said Kiunjuru.
After his sacking more than six months ago, Kiunjuri had been embroiled in countless battles with controversial scandals in the Ministry of Agriculture.
He was publicly lectured by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018 during the height of the maize scandal.
In September 2018, President Uhuru publicly warned Kiunjuri over irregular payments made to maize cartels through the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
Uhuru swore before God to punish ministry officials if they failed to pay maize farmers, who had supplied grains to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
"I promise you and I swear before God, try that again and you will see what will happen to you. Sisi hatutaki mchezo tena (We won't entertain this again)," he stated as he pointed at the CS.
The former CS however added that his sacking was not shocking since he had foreseen it a long time before.
“The President’s decision has taken me by no surprise. I thank God. I feel relieved… I have gone through a difficult year that occasionally threatened my energy. Only God knows what it (the humiliation) has made me feel,” he said.
His statement that for every action there would be a reaction was a wait and see. Many waited to see which political vehicle he would jump into, but it seems he chose to launch his own.
In today’s statement the Central Kenya figure, belabored to express that his party would give a democratic field where members would not be intimidated for their decisions.
“TSP will provide the platform for free minds to express themselves…Nobody will be threatened to take a certain direction,” concluded Kinjuri.
The party with yellow colors, and a symbol of heart in a circle, he says, will have the service of Kenyans at heart.
