The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned former Kasarani MP Elizabeth Ongoro and her husband Ferdinand Masha over suspected embezzlement of Constituency Development Fund.

The duo is among the 19 individuals accused of misappropriation of Sh48.9 million meant for Kasarani Girls High School project.

According to EACC, the project which was conceptualised by a CDF committee and payment made to different entities, is non-existent.

“The school does not exist and that payments were made to different individuals and companies associated to (sic) the National Government Constituency Development Fund patron and committee members,” EACC says.

The suspects have also been accused of failing to follow procurement laws in relation to the construction of the non-existent school.

The other suspects named in the corruption scandal include; Mwalim Rashid Mrafi, Ruth Kanini Kitonyi, Sivan Onyango, Pamela Mudha, Nashon Odongo, Claperton Ouda, Douglas Parshet, Vitalis Obunga Ogingo, Maricus Otieno, Peter Aming, Maurice Orongo, William Ogutu Weda, James Juma Ochieng, Peter Ongeyo, Charles Owino, John Obonyo Owinga and James Miruka Dola.

EACC has ordered the 19 individuals to present themselves at Integrity Centre to shed light on the use of the Sh48.9m.

They face charges of conspiracy to commit an offense of corruption, misappropriation of public funds, abuse of office, engaging in a project without prior planning, unlawful acquisition of public property, willful failure to comply with public procurement law and dealing with suspect property.
