Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s motorcade was on Monday afternoon stoned by demonstrators in Kawangware, Nairobi shortly after visiting Gatina Primary School.
The Acting Interiors CS Matiang’i who is also the substantive Education Cabinet Secretary had visited Gatina Primary School to check on the progress of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) rehearsals. KCPE candidates are set to begin the national examination on Tuesday and complete the exercise by Thursday, November 2.
Police used tear gas to disperse an agitated crowd that had started pelting CS Matiang’i’s motorcade with stones.
Matiang’i has since denied being in the motorcade when the incident happened. "I have been informed that my staff was stoned... but I have no facts about it," said CS Matiang'i.
