Kenya: Doctors at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) are yet to announce their findings on the fate of Siamese twins admitted at the hospital.

The twins, who were delivered at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru, have been undergoing extensive tests since Monday when they were transferred to the institution.

KNH said they will announce their findings today after pushing the date from Thursday, when they were to provide a way forward for the conjoined twins. By Wednesday, a team of paediatric specialists had already done blood tests and imaging to determine the shared organs.

“We cannot determine the next course of action by the physical features only. Without a thorough check-up, the conjoined twins cannot be treated effectively,” KNH spokesman Simon Ithae said.

The Siamese twins were delivered normally over the weekend to 27-year-old Evelyn Omodho at the Nakuru Hospital. They have three hands, two legs and one reproductive organ.
