Meet the racing Brothers

Muthambi Wanjigi and Maina Wanjigi are brothers who have found niche in motorcycle racing, popularly known as motorcross.
Motorcross is one of the most physically demanding sports in the world and done on rough terrain, steep hills and sharp curves.

Three years ago, the elder siblings Muthambi, 14, started as a joke just after watching international motorcross on television.

“Seeing people bend as they negotiate sharp corners were very breathtaking moments and interesting. Then I wished l was the one doing it,” he says.

He told his parents of his interest in motorcross and they bought him a racing kid and the training begun in 2009. Few months later his you younger brother Maina, 10, joined him.

“We owe it to our parents because they provided us with the support and the equipments when we showed interest,” they say.
The two have participated in over 30 motorcross competitions at local, national and international arena, winning several trophies and certificates.

Muthambi currently uses a 125 cc class and Maina on 65 cc class motorcycles. The two pupils of Brookhouse International School are gearing up for an international race in Kampala, Uganda in October.
