Former Kenya Football Federation (KFF) chairman Mohamed Hatimy is dead. Hatimy died on Saturday morning at a Mombasa hospital where he was undergoing treatment, his family said.
Hatimy served as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Mombasa County chairperson. The Orange party eulogised him as a great man who was dedicated to his work.
Prior to his death, Hatimy was serving as a second term nominated MCA in the Mombasa County Assembly. He was also the chairperson of the Finance Committee.
Several leaders condoled with the family including ODM Party leader Raila Odinga who lauded the deceased’s contribution to sports, politics and business.

“May God grant his family strength at this difficult moment and may His Soul Rest In Peace,” tweeted Odinga.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho also mourned Hatimy describing him as a devoted husband and a dependable friend.
Joho praised Hatimy for his service to the county and diligence in his work whenever he was assigned a task.
“In Mohamed Hatimy, I have lost a brother and a treasured friend. On behalf of the people of Mombasa and my own behalf I extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family. May the Almighty assuage your grief and grant you patience as you confront this tragic loss.
“It is our humble and sincere prayer to the Almighty Allah SWT to grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Inna Lillahi Waina Ileyhi Rajiu'un. Amin,” he tweeted.
Hatimy will be laid to rest later today (November 14, 2020) at the Kokowani Cemetery as per Islam traditions.
