An officer attached to a Kakamega police station was yesterday charged with deserting duty.
Constable Kennedy Kiragu Njogu was accused of absenting himself without leave or justification from Kakamega Central Police Station between June 1, 2016 and April 24, 2017.
He denied the charge before Chief Magistrate Bildad Ochieng.’
Njogu was denied bond after the Chief Magistrate granted an application by the investigating officer, Inspector David Mosonik.
In a sworn affidavit, Mr Mosonik said the officer was being investigated for allegedly defrauding the public in the pretence that he could secure them employment.

The Chief Magistrate ordered the accused to be remanded at Kakamega Central Police Station.
The matter will be mentioned on May 10.
