International hip-hop sensation Aliaune Damala popularly known as Akon landed in Nairobi on a private visit and declared Kenya an amazing place to visit, promising to invest in the country.
Akon, who visited President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House and afterwards held a press briefing with Tourism Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie endorsed Kenya as a safe tourism and investment destination. “I met the president and the minister in Washington and promised them I would visit Kenya. Here I am.”
Akon was full of praise for Kenya’s cuisine saying: “I have thoroughly enjoyed every dish or food I have eaten. This was his fourth visit to Kenya and he promised to return in December.”
Kandie said her ministry was delighted by the endorsement from the renowned musician. “This is a major boost that we do not take for granted and we are grateful he has spoken positively about Kenya’s tourism attractions and investment climate.”
