Sometimes I find myself watching cooking shows and dreaming of how amazing it would be to replicate those meals. Some people just naturally have a real talent in the kitchen but for the majority, it’s a bit of a struggle.
Baking, specifically is not that easy to learn. For beginners, the whole process of prepping the ingredients, setting the oven to the right temperature and successfully baking something without undercooking or overcooking it just sounds complicated.
But don’t worry, there’s hope for all the baking beginners out there. These are five simple meal and snack ideas you can try:
- Homemade pizza
Once you start making your own pizza, you will never look back. You can experiment with different toppings to come up with your own unique flavors.
To make things easier, just buy premade pizza crusts instead of making one from scratch. You should also buy pizza sauce that’s already been made for you, to make things less complicated.

Next is to just add your layer of pizza sauce and toppings of your choice then bake until it is ready.
- Baked potatoes
Forget all those fancy baked potatoes you’ve seen or tasted. You too can manage to bake simple but delicious potatoes that look and taste just like the best baked potatoes you’ve ever had.
You will need to peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes (not tiny) and place them in boiled water that has been mixed with salt and half a tea spoon of baking soda to get that crunchy texture.
When ready, drizzle some olive oil on them and season with any seasoning of your choice. Lastly bake until each side is evenly done.
- Baked pork chops
This is another very easy meal you can make with no stress. You just need to have your lamb chops and marinade for flavor. For the marinade you can combine spices of your choice with some oil then coat your pork chops with a generous amount.
All that is left to do from there is to preheat your oven and let them bake evenly until they’re ready.
- Box cake
This is for those times when you want to bake your own cake without doing all that extra work. You can simply find cake mix brands that have already done all the hard work for you and follow the instructions on the box.
If you have the basic essentials like eggs and any other ingredient you would like to add to make the cake even better, you’re good to go.
- Chocolate brownies
These treats can be made with ingredients that you probably already have at home, nothing complicated.
With all purpose flour, eggs, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, salt and melted butter, mix everything together, put it in a baking pan and pop it on the oven at around 180 degrees.
Within about 20 minutes, your brownies will be ready for the whole family to enjoy.
