Award-winning Kenyan actress Sarah Hassan has been honoured with the 2025 Forbes Woman Africa Entertainer of the Year Award.

The award was presented during the Forbes Woman Africa Leading Women Summit, held on March 5 at Time Square in Pretoria, South Africa.

The annual event, which celebrates International Women's Day, recognises outstanding women in various fields, including business, politics, sports, and entertainment.

Forbes Woman Africa praised Hassan's achievements, describing her as a multi-award-winning actress, producer, and TV host.

The publication highlighted her past accolades, including winning Best Actress at the Kalasha Awards in 2019 for her role in Plan B. It also noted that her film Just In Time, produced under her company Alfajiri Productions, is currently streaming globally on Netflix.

Following the award, Hassan shared her excitement on Instagram, posting a video of herself receiving the honour. She captioned it, "Last night still feels like a dream? I honestly can't even put into words what I'm feeling right now?, all I can say is, THANK YOU."

In her speech, while receiving the award, Hassan said, "When I started this journey as an actress and TV host and later got into film production, all I had was hope and passion. I never imagined the stories I would tell and the amazing people I would meet on the way. Being named Forbes 30 under 50 was a defining moment, but winning was beyond my imagination."

Hassan is widely known for her roles in popular TV series such as Crime and Justice, Tahidi High, and Zora.

Her latest recognition follows other major milestones in her career. In February 2025, she was listed in Forbes Africa's Over 30 Under 50 list.

In response, she posted on Instagram, expressing her gratitude: "I can't even put into words how grateful and honored I am to be among such incredible women."

The list features 25 outstanding women from across Africa, including business leaders, musicians, models, and movie stars, who are breaking barriers in their 30s and 40s.

Speaking to Forbes Africa, Hassan stressed the importance of representation in the entertainment industry.

"When we see ourselves reflected authentically on screen and behind the camera, it empowers the younger generation on so many levels. Representation matters, and for young girls, it proves they can be anything they want to be and ultimately be able to shape the narrative that goes out into the world," said Hassan.

In the same month, she was recognised as one of the 100 Most Impactful Africans in 2024 by Ranks Africa.

The magazine acknowledged her significant contributions to the continent's entertainment industry, stating, "Sarah Hassan's impactful contributions have inspired millions and made a lasting impact across Africa and beyond."

Hassan continues to rise as a leading figure in African entertainment. With her talent and dedication, she remains an inspiration to many aspiring actors and filmmakers across the continent.
