Nigerian singer Davido was among the first celebrities to congratulate President-Elect William Ruto after the Supreme Court upheld the verdict of the August 9th elections. Delivering the verdict, Chief Justice Martha Koome said Ruto garnered 50 percent plus one vote cast.
"Congratulations to Dr William Samoei Ruto, on being declared 5th President of the Republic of Kenya. Also Congratulations to the people of Kenya! DEMOCRACY WINS AGAIN," Davido wrote on Twitter.
Kenyan singer Reuben Kigame, who also aspired to be president in the 2022 elections, congratulated Ruto saying he respects the Supreme Court ruling.
"Congratulations to his Excellency @WilliamsRuto for being confirmed 5th president of The Republic off Kenya. We said we would respect the supreme court ruling and so do so now. We commit to contribute to the growth of our democracy by keeping his government accountable," wrote Kigame.
Uganda artiste and former MP Bobi Wine not only congratulated Ruto but also Kenyans for how they conducted themselves during the political period.
"I congratulate the President-Elect of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. @WilliamsRuto. Throughout the campaigns, the election and the Election Petition, Kenya has proven that its democracy has come of age. The Region has many lessons to learn. I congratulate the great people of Kenya," said Wine.
Reverend Lucy Natasha congratulated Ruto for being duly elect president and assured him of her prayers as he took office.
"Congratulations to the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. @williamsamoeiruto CGH.May God grant you wisdom, protection & favour with your deputy as you take over the leadership of our great Nation Kenya.
"Our prayers, best wishes and goodwill are with you as you prepare to take up this high mandate as Head of State and Government. The Lord's blessings upon you as you lead the country to greater heights of economic success, social cohesion and national progress."
Comedian Eddie Butita wrote, "Congratulations President William Samoei Ruto. You are a President for all, those who voted for you and those who did not it is time to make a difference for everyone. May your leadership be guided by the grace of GOD."
Rapper Khaligraph Jones posted a past photo of him and Ruto and captioned it, "WSR????... Congratulations to The 5th president of Kenya #respecttheogs."
Kenyan artiste KRG the Don said, "Congratulations Mr.President #MyPresident #Kenya has won ?? again."
Comedian Daniel "Churchill" Ndambuki congratulated Ruto and urged Kenyans to be peaceful.
"Congratulations are in order to our 5th Republic of Kenya. @williamsamoeiruto Sasa natusonge sote pamoja kama wazalendo wa taifa la Kenya," wrote Churchill.
Socialite Amber Ray posted a picture of William Ruto and captioned, "Our President."
Days after the IEBC announced results declaring Ruto as president, top celebrities took to their social media accounts and congratulated him. They included Akon, Diamond Platnumz, Supermodel Ajuma Nasanyana, Emmy Kosgei, Comedian Njugush, Kate The Actress, footballer Victor Wanyama and Huddah Monroe.
