Monica Lewinsky speaks on taking up White House internship

At the age of just 25, Monica Lewinsky achieved a level of infamy you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.

Lewinsky took up unpaid White House internship for White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta in the summer of 1995, when she was 22.

By 1998, the whole world knew her name after it came to light that she'd had a sexual relationship with Bill Clinton , the then-49-year-old president of the United States, between 1995 and 1997.

Clinton arguably somehow won back the forgiveness of the American public.

As for Lewinsky, and as is often sadly the way, it was her name and reputation which was dragged through the mud.

It's taken 20 years - and the #MeToo movement - for Lewinsky to come out fighting.

And despite all the bullying levelled at her, she's managed to retain a sense of humour.

When Adam Grant , a psychologist and New York Times bestselling author, asked Twitter "What's the worst career advice you've ever received?" she had the best response.

 Her reply simply read: "An internship at the white house will be amazing on your resume."

Obviously the trolls came out to play, but plenty of others were HUGELY impressed by Lewinsky's wit and fast response.

"You win the internet, Monica," one fan wrote.

"I'm glad my mother taught me during the impeachment that I shouldn't be cruel to you. I learned about the imbalance of power turning sexuality into something terrible as a teenager because of you and I'm a lot wiser as a woman."

 As another admirer put it: "This is maybe the best reply I've ever seen on Twitter. Anyone have a better one? Please reply."
