For any musician, remaining relevant and being accepted by their audience is such an uphill task.

Coming up with a hit is not as hard as following it up with several others.

For American singer Keri Hilson, her breakthrough came in 2007 after appearing on Timbaland's chart topping single "The Way I Are".

Consequently, the artiste, who is expected in Kenyan for the Terminal Music Weekend went into a seven-year hiatus from the industry.

Earlier this year, during an interview with Steve Harvey's Steve daytime show, an emotional Hilson fought back tears as she discussed “hitting rock bottom.”

“I think I had to give up music for a while. I stepped away," the singer said with tears in her eyes.

“I thought it would just be a year. It’s been six, maybe. I realize now that I’m grateful for all of those years. I have built myself back up.”

“It is sort of a comeback, because I’ve hit rock bottom a few times and I’m crawling back to walking in my purpose.”
