Kenyan gospel songbird Mercy Masika is a woman with a heart of gold, this is according to Tanzanian bongo star Muna Love.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday at her home in Mbezi, Muna Love revealed how instrumental the gospel artist together with her husband was during her stay in Nairobi while seeking treatment for her late son, Patrick Peter.
Upon arrival, Muna disclosed that Masika introduced her to a children's specialist and after consultation settled on Nairobi West hospital where Patrick would begin his treatment.
“Tulipofika Kenya tulipokelewa na Mercy pamoja na mume wake. Kisha baada ya kukaa nao wakaniunganisha na Daktari mkubwa wa watoto nchini Kenya. Hivo tukaenda kumuona Daktari aliyeitwa Dr.Bore. Daktari akatupa maelezo ya kupata huduma katika hospitali za Nairobi. Kulingana na maelezo ya Daktari tukaona tutamudu huduma ya Nairobi West. Hivyo tukiwa kwenda hospitalini ili Patrick aanze matibabu,” Muna shared.
She further disclosed that the couple paid for the deposit while the hospital staff administered first aid on the late seven-year-old prepping him for an operation.
Unfortunately, before doctors could start the operation, Patrick slid into a coma and did not manage to pull through.
After he was pronounced dead, Masika and her husband also facilitated the transfer of the body to a funeral home and made the necessary airport arrangements to ensure the body of Muna’s arrived in Tanzania.
“Baada ya kupata taarifa kuwa mtoto amefariki, Mercy pamoja ma mume wake walinisaidia kupata uhifadhi wa mwili wa mtoto. Kuna wengine pia kama vile akina DJ MO, Evelyne Wanjiru walichanga fedha ili niweze kusafirisha mwili mpaka Tanzania. Walinipeleka kwa Kampuni ya Lala Salama ambayo ilipewa jukumu la kuitoa maiti Nairobi West Hospital. Tulisaini mkataba wa kushughulikia mwili wa marehemu kisha tukakata tiketi za Ndege. Sikuweza kusafiri na mwili kwa sababu za clearance kule airport,” she added.
The late Patrick was a talented actor like his mother but suffered from a brain tumour and was due for an operation the day he passed away.
