A woman has sued K24’s news anchor Tom Mboya over child maintenance.
Elsie Achieng, a student at Kenya Methodist University, moved to Milimani Law Courts claiming that Mboya has absconded parental responsibility for their two-year-old child.
Through her lawyer Pauline Muhanda, Elsie alleged that Mboya consistently provided for the baby together with the baby since her birth until November last year.
Elsie claimed that all her efforts to get in touch with him (Mboya) to take up his responsibility have failed.
“He has informed close relatives that he will not maintain the child unless the matter is decided in court,” claims Elsie.

Elsie claimed she was a student with no steady income to bring up the child. She now wants Mboya to pay up Sh50,000 per month before the case is determined.
Elsie has asked the court to compel Mboya to surrender a copy of his ID card to her, so that the child’s birth certificate can be finalised.
She claims her lawyer sent a demand letter to Mboya but that Mboya never replied to it.
Mboya was named the 2012 CNN Africa Journalist of the Year.
