The government has deployed at least 60,000 security personnel across the country to boost security ahead of the national examinations.

In a statement on Saturday, October 28, Interior Ministry said the National Police Service (NPS) and the National Government have mobilized security officials who will ensure credibility of the exams.

"The government has deployed at least 60,000 security personnel across the country to secure the national examination centers," Interior PS Raymond Omollo stated.

The officials will be stationed at every exam center where they are expected to man the examination containers and protect students as they sit the exams.

According to Interior Principal Secretary Rymond Omollo, the 60,000 personnel will be stationed in both primary and secondary schools where different exams will be taking place.

Additionally, Omollo said that the government has set up command and communication centers at both National and Regional levels for close monitoring and supervision of the exercise.

Further, to deter any potential exam leakages, the PS added that; "All the examination containers will be located at NGAO offices and will be manned by security personnel round the clock."

He also warned students and everyone to adhere to the examination rules, failure to which they will face the law.

This year, over 3.5 million candidates will seat for their exams which will run from October 30 to November 24.

Of these, 1.4 million are Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE) candidates, 903,260 will sit the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) and 1.2 million students will sit for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).
