The revision of university course selection for the 2020 KCSE candidates, who attained at least mean grade C+ (plus), will be conducted at Huduma Centres in 17 counties.
In last year’s national test, 143,140 out of 747,161 candidates (19.2 per cent) qualified for university placement.
The university-bound students, who wrote the exam in the following counties, can revise their selections at Huduma Centres: Nairobi, Kisumu, Kakamega, Nakuru, Nyeri, Uasin Gishu, Meru, Kitui, Garissa, Mombasa, Wajir, Lamu, Mandera, Kwale, Samburu, Kilifi and Baringo.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) said on Monday, May 31 that course selection and revision in the remaining counties will be conducted at designated colleges, polytechnics and universities.
KUCCPs has since released a list of 48 decentralised course-selection centres for applicants.
The notice stated the selection will run for one week, beginning Monday, May 31 to Saturday, June 5.
In Nairobi, applicants can select or revise their preferred courses at Makadara and GPO Huduma Centres.
The agency warned students against falling victim to fraudsters who claim they are KUCCPs proxies.
“All application payments should be made to the KUCCPS after logging in to the student’s portal. Do not pay in advance,” said the placement agency in their notice to students.
Last week, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha said the students will know the universities they would have been selected to join by end of July.
Magoha instructed KUCCPS to reopen systems for new applications and to allow candidates to revise their course selection.
The first batch of qualified students is expected to join university in September 2021.
All the Kenyan universities have revealed there is a total of 160,160 slots for government-sponsored students joining First Year.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, on the other hand, have 331,045 slots.
There are 529 undergraduate degree programmes to be pursued for the 2020 KCSE candidates; 215 diploma courses; 109 certificate programmes and 137 artisan programmes.
