Technology meets music teaching in Eldoret Uasin Gishu County, where a number of youths will get to sharpen their artistic skills by learning different musical instruments.
Known as the city of champions, Eldoret will be among the best towns for music and entertainment after the formation of a modern music training school at Rupaz Fun and Fitness Centre in the region.
According to the school’s music director Steve Nguta, their aim is to nurture the youths and produce talents from within the arts and entertainment industry to the highest level within and outside the country.
He said, the management has put in place plans to make the music training school, which is situated along Eldoret-Nakuru highway to become an Associate Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM) exam centre.
“We have plans to make this music training facility become the best in the country because we already have the best modern entertainment and music instruments which the students will use to enhance their skills. We also have qualified music teachers who are graduates,” said Nguta

He added: “Our training will be quite different compared to other institutions, we are now going to personalise music classes within a family-friendly environment to ensure we bring everyone on board of understanding. We also intend to be the only music school teaching traditional music instrument cutting across cultures.”
Nguta said the training school which was started late last year had been interrupted by Covid-19 forcing them to reduce the number of students from 30 to 15.
Having three training classrooms, they have a maximum of five students in every class daily to meet with covid-19 protocols.
They also provide internal exams known as Associate Board of Royal School of Music (ABRAM) and consequently issue them with internal certificates which they can use temporarily after completing the course.
