Kenya: The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) has appointed Philip Kimelly Maiyo as the new Vice Chancellor (VC).
The appointment of the ninth VC at the university since its inception 30 years ago follows a meeting of the institution's council on June 16.
Announcing the appointment, council Chair Kenneth Maena termed the appointment as an exciting moment to the institution saying Prof Maiyo's will be a blessing to UEAB.
"He shares the vision for UEAB and is the right person to lead the university forward. The council will support him in his mission and vision," Pastor Maena said.
Maiyo previously served as Dean of the School of Computer Science and Director of Information Technology Services at the Ghana University.
