A huge fire broke out in Kanzokea Forest in Kangundo, Machakos County on Thursday night, October 28.
Kangundo Central Member of County Assembly Moses Musyoka told The Standard that the fire, whose cause is unknown, started at around 7pm, consuming everything on its path.
“It’s currently dry in Machakos. As a result, the fire spread so fast as it burnt dry leaves and twigs,” said Musyoka.
Efforts by the Machakos firefighting team to put out the inferno were futile.
