Makueni policewoman Nancy Njeri who is accused of killing of lawyer Onesmus Masaku has now pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
Ms Njeri appeared before Machakos High Court Judge David Kemei Monday afternoon after undergoing a mental examination at the Mathari Hospital which indicated she was fit to stand trial.
Masaku, who was practising law in Wote, Makueni County, died last month while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he was admitted after sustaining serious injuries allegedly inflicted on him by Njeri.
Justice Kemei ordered that Njeri be detained at Machakos Women Prison pending hearing of bail application slated for November 24, 2020. Kemei also ordered Njeri to take a Covid-19 test.
