A 19-year-old woman has been charged for allegedly issuing death threats to her mother for questioning her habit of coming home in the dead of the night and smoking suspected prohibited drugs.
Rechael Wambui Maina, 37, sought the help of the authorities to tame her teen daughter Linet Wanjiku Wambui who she claimed had threatened to kill her on March 29 while armed with a kitchen knife at their home in Dandora Phase Five.
The accused, according to her mother, has been creating disturbances at home while threatening to kill her.
The woman said her daughter has been physically attacking her whenever she questions her movements.
On April 1, the accused is said to have been busted puffing substance suspected to be bhang. When her mother asked her what she was smoking, she violently turned against her.
The woman claimed that her daughter even attempt to set the house on fire while she was in it but neighbours rescued her.
The mother decided to seek help from authorities, lamenting that her life was under threat from her own daughter.
The accused, according to the mother, was no longer even going to school and that the last time she attended school, she failed to sit exams.
When the accused was arraigned in court, she denied the charges, claiming that all she did was to ask her mother about her father's whereabouts.
"My mother always claims that I want to kill her whenever I asked her the whereabouts of my father. I never threatened to kill her," she said.
The court opined that she and her mother should solve the issue of the father amicably. She was granted a cash bail of Sh50,000.
The matter will be mentioned on April 25.
