A dramatic WhatsApp status laced with heartbreak and a chilling threat has landed two women in police custody in Kisumu County, after a photo of a woman holding a pistol sparked a swift and coordinated police operation.
Sharon Auma had shared the photo on her status, posing with a pistol and warning that any man who broke her heart would suffer the consequences.
What may have been intended as a bold emotional statement quickly escalated into a criminal investigation, as law enforcement zeroed in, not on her heartbreak, but on the illegal firearm in her possession.

Alarmed by the image, detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau teamed up with officers from the DCI Nyando office and swiftly tracked Sharon to Awasi town, the administrative headquarters of Nyando Sub-county where, she was arrested without incident.
She later led the officers to a rented two-bedroom house belonging to her friend, Nancy Atieno Obura.
In the house, investigators uncovered the same Canik pistol featured in the WhatsApp post. The weapon, though unloaded, was hidden beneath a bed inside a basin of clothes. But that wasn't the only discovery.
As the officers combed through the house, they also came across a forged motorcycle number plate inscribed with KMGG 805M, deepening the mystery behind the case.
Now, both Sharon and Nancy are in police custody as investigations intensify. What began as an emotional social media post about heartbreak has morphed into a serious criminal case, with detectives working to determine the origin of the firearm and the significance of the fake number plate. Further arrests may follow as the probe continues.
