A woman in Umoja Two area within Nairobi County was recently sentenced to a one week imprisonment for assaulting her husband.
Diana Akinyi will spend seven days in jail if she defaults paying a fine of Sh5,000.
This was after she smashed her husband Ali Mwenje Rajab on the head using a chapati roller, leaving him with injuries.
Akinyi was arraigned before Makadara Senior Resident Magistrate Praxdie Atieno Aduke where she admitted assaulting Mwenje on diverse dates between March 26 and 27 at their Umoja house.
Reports have it that the accused had been gossiping about her husband (complainant) in a manner that saw him become the topic of the residential area that he could not perform some special tasks as a man.
This did not amuse him and he decided to question her.
The complainant alleged that his wife was tainting his name and that neighbours knew their domestic issues in and out.
On questioning, the accused then grabbed the complainant and scratched him while she dragged him to the bedroom where she smashed his head with a rolling stick and chicken feeder.
The neighbours, who were eavesdropping, came to his rescue.
The complainant reported the incident to the police who arrested her and presented her in court.
She pleaded for leniency stating that she will not attack the father of her kids again.
The court considered the circumstances and mitigation before sentencing her.
