Two brothers are in trouble after they allegedly broke a rider's hand in a fight over a Sh100 debt.
The two accused person's Peter Kisungi and Muli Kisungi, were both arraigned at the Makadara law courts where they were charged for causing grievous harm to Oliver Onesmus Mwendwa on the night of February 21 at Soweto area within Nairobi's Embakasi east Sub-county.
Prior to the incident, the duo is said to have helped the complainant fix his motorbike after it developed a mechanical hitch at Sh 500.
The complainant paid Sh 400 with a promise to pay the balance before the week ended.
On material day, the accused persons spotted the complainant waiting for a client, and they went to attack him from behind with kicks and punches, thus making him fall off the motorbike.
They claimed that the complainant was escaping them whenever he saw them. They demanded the pay as they attacked him mercilessly, an act that led to the complainant's hand being broken.
The accused person ran away when the client arrived after hearing the complainant scream in distress. He was rushed to a specialised hospital in Eastleigh hospital where he was admitted for three days before being discharged.
The brothers have since been granted a bond of Sh 100,000 each with an alternative bail of Sh 80,000.
Elsewhere, a woman in Umoja Two area within Nairobi County was recently sentenced to a one week imprisonment for assaulting her husband.
Diana Akinyi will spend seven days in jail if she defaults on paying a fine of Sh5,000.
This was after she hit her husband, Ali Mwenje Rajab, on the head using a chapati roller, leaving him with injuries.
Akinyi was arraigned before Makadara Senior Resident Magistrate Praxdie Atieno Aduke, where she admitted to assaulting Mwenje on diverse dates between March 26 and 27 at their Umoja house.
Reports have it that the accused had been gossiping about her husband (complainant) in a manner that saw him become the topic of the residential area and that he could not perform some special tasks as a man.
This did not amuse him, and he decided to question her.
The complainant alleged that his wife was tainting his name and that neighbours knew their domestic issues in and out.
On questioning, the accused then grabbed the complainant and scratched him while she dragged him to the bedroom, where she smashed his head with a rolling stick and chicken feeder.
