The Green Zone of COP28 opens to the public at the Expo City of Dubai on Sunday.
The Green Zone is a space dedicated to engaging, educating and inspiring community Climate Action.
The space has 10 themed hubs to connect, collaborate, and accelerate climate solutions and over 600 events on climate change, sustainability, innovation, technology, and education. It also has arts, entertainment, and the fully operational Expo City farm with opportunities to engage and amplify the voices of youth and indigenous peoples.
It has over 200 private companies and civil society groups exhibit, innovative private sector climate solutions and partnerships, cutting-edge technologies and progressive thinking and over 90 food and beverage outlets serving sustainable, socially responsible, delicious and nutritious menus. Anyone interested in climate action is allowed to visit the zone including those in public and private sector businesses, non-governmental organizations and Blue Zone delegates.
According to the COP28 UAE website, the Green Zone will serve as the central hub for action and will welcome all attendees. It will be open to the public, private sectors, media, youth, NGOs, as well as delegates and guests of the UNFCCC-managed Blue Zone for two weeks.
The Blue Zone will however only be open to accredited party and observer delegates and will host formal negotiations.
