215 pupils at Seven Forks Primary School in Mbeere South, Embu County, are counting losses after a fire razed their dormitory on Wednesday morning.
According to Mbeere South DCC George Omollo, no one was injured during the 6am incident as the pupils were in class for morning prep.
Omollo said an investigation has been launched to establish the cause of the fire.
Sources, however, claimed that the blaze could have been caused by an electric fault.
The fire was put out with the assistance of KenGen fire engines before it could spread to the nearby teachers' quarters.
The school which hosts at least 700 day and boarding pupils is located next to Gitaru Hydroelectric Power Station.
