Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti has urged residents to turn out in large numbers for Friday's prayer rally being hosted by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at his Yatta farm.

Wavinya made the call as she hosted the Second Lady, Dorcas Gachagua, for an interdenominational prayer forum at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The prayers were organized by the United Clergy Alliance.

At the same time, the Machakos county boss cautioned residents against divisive politics. "My loyalty is to my party, Wiper, even though I will work with President William Ruto's administration in the development of our region," she said.

"I work with Ruto and Kalonzo very well. We must continue to play our role to advance the interests of our people even as we recognize the government of the day," said Wavinya.

She added: "As Wiper party, we shall be having our prayers at Kalonzo's Yatta farm tomorrow and we ask you to turn out in large numbers."

The governor pointed out that it was dangerous for citizens to be confrontational and take hardline positions based on their political affiliations.

"Politicians change depending on circumstances. Therefore, please avoid attacking anyone, be they from Kenya Kwanza or Azimio. Today they may differ but tomorrow you may find them sharing happy moments together," the governor said.

Thousands of Wiper party supporters are expected at the event for what the party has referred to as a mega rally to pray for the Nation.

Governors, senators, MPs, MCAs and professionals have been invited to the event.

Mrs Gachagua thanked Kenyans for observing peace even after going through a gruelling General Election.

She urged citizens to resist disunity and focus on love and peaceful coexistence.

"As a nation, we need to heal and walk together towards turning around the fortunes of our country. Our unity, in this regard, is important. Despite the prevailing challenges, we remain confident that God has preserved a victorious destiny for Kenya," she said
