Ahead of Valentine's Day, some women congregated in Nairobi to set the mood for the occasion.
On Saturday, the women celebrated Galentine's Day, which is fast gaining popularity among urbanites, who use the occasion to celebrate female friendship.
Galentine's Day is the friendship version of Valentine's day - a whole day dedicated to celebrating the platonic love between women.
Organised by Henrietta Kiiru, the theme for the day was red, black and gold and plenty of flowers to set the romantic mood.
Henrietta explained that the day brings women together, where they share girl talks and experiences before Valentine's Day.
"The main objective of Galentine is to bring girls together to share life experiences, inspire, educate each other and of course, have fun," said Henrietta.
The ladies, drawn from different spheres, used the occasion to share their experiences, professional knowledge, social life and life lessons.
Catherine Masitsa, a businesswoman shared some insights on being successful and focused.
"As women, we need to occupy our space on the table. Let's stand to be counted on matters decision making and for this to happen, we have to empower ourselves economically and professionally," said Masitsa
The day was a display of glamour, fashion and style with Rita Makena, Sameera Merlahi, Roselinda Achieng and emcee Himaz Halima lightening the mood.
Business lady and social media personality Amber Ray, former Miss Tourism and landscape expert Emma Too and actress Neomi Nganga were among the invited guests.
Saxophonist Brian Luvasi aka The Afrophonist kept the music alive.
