Police in Kakamega North have commenced investigations into the death of a 30-year-old man who was allegedly murdered by his sibling over land dispute at Cheptuli village, Malava.

The suspect who is at large is alleged to have attacked the deceased Reuben Muganda and his brother Mukhwami Muganda who's nursing leg injuries at Malava Sub county hospital.

According to Shivanga location chief Simeon Nambwa, the incident occurred after siblings fought over a land dispute.

"According to locals, the victim was uprooting a Sisal stem that was planted to create a road boundary before he was attacked by one of the suspects who's at large. Reuben Muganda was hacked with a panga and was pronounced dead on the way to hospital while his brother Mukhwami Muganda is still in hospital," he noted.

He further revealed that the suspect's father Majimbo Muganda is in police custody on allegations that he ignited the fight while his son is on the run.

He called on residents to follow the law while solving land cases.

"Let's not allow disputes to lead to death since it affects the younger generation. Let's embrace the law since it will help solve disputes amicably. I urge residents to remain calm and allow the investigation to take place," he stated.

Malava OCPD Paul Mwenda said the body has been taken to Lugulu Funeral home awaiting postmortem as investigations into the matter commence.

"It's a very sad incident whereby the same family is fighting over boundary issues. The victim died while on the way to the hospital while his sibling is nursing leg injuries at Malava sub county hospital. We are still gathering more information and the suspects will be arraigned in court," he noted.

He cautioned residents with disputes to seek resolution through laid down procedures.

Elsewhere, Grief has engulfed Mufutu village in Lugari sub county after the body of a 64-year-old man was found dangling on a rope in his house.

According to Consepta Khitembuli, the deceased Fabian Ambeyi has been having constant wrangles with his wife who earlier left before he was found dead.

"My brother called me saying he was depressed after the wife ran away with all belongings in the house. I told him to be calm and he will soon get over it, I didn't expect he would take his life. It's very unfortunate and I call on police to investigate the matter and help us get justice," Khitembuli noted.

Neighbors led by Charles Siuti said they tried opening the door but it was hard and when they left to look for instruments to open it they found it had been opened by an unknown person.

According to the deceased uncle Moses Amalemba, he earlier on advised the deceased not to concentrate on negative thoughts." I was shocked to receive news that he had hanged himself even after seeking advice from me," he noted.
