The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has said it is confident the Supreme Court will uphold the election of Deputy President William Ruto as the fifth president.
Speaking after filing certified copies of all forms 34A, 34B, 34C and 34D used to declare the presidential results, IEBC commissioner Boya Molu said they did a good job but that it will be up to the seven judges to determine whether there were any irregularities.
"We are very satisfied by the conduct of the election. An election is a much-regulated process. We have followed election laws to the letter and are confident that there was no violation of any procedure, rules and regulations," said Mr Molu.
The commission was complying with electoral laws that state that it must file all records of presidential election results within 48 hours after being served with a petition challenging the outcome.
The commission submitted all the 46,229 forms 34A from the polling stations, 290 forms 34B used to tally presidential results at constituency level, Form 34C used to tally the national results, and Form 34D which was the certificate issued to Dr Ruto as the winner.
All the eight petitioners challenging the declaration of presidential results had asked the court to order IEBC to submit the materials with 48 hours.
Busia Senator-elect Okiya Omtatah, in a joint petition, also applied to court to compel IEBC to produce all the Kiems kits and other electronic devices for inspection.
But Mr Molu said they were not required to submit the electronic gadgets. "Things like Kiems kits and other electoral materials are not required at this stage but if the court makes an order that we submit them, then we will be ready to submit any information that is required any time."
