Amani National Congress (ANC) National Delegates Conference is expected to endorse Musalia Mudavadi as the party presidential candidate on January 20.

“The NDC will name Mudavadi our automatic presidential candidate," said ANC national chairman Kelvin Lunani.

Lunani says the former Vice President will be on the ballot during the August 9 General Election.

He spoke at Mumias Sports Complex on Friday, and indicated that the party would also fill vacant positions, including that of  deputy party leader at the NDC.

Currently, Mudavadi is the ANC party leader, while Simon Gikuru is the secretary general.

The announcement by Lunani brings to an end speculations that Mudavadi may not contest.

He is the only one among One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals whose party is yet to hold the NDC.

“Anyone seeking our support must tell us what our stake is in the partnership we are joining," said Lunani. "We will not support anyone blindly since we do not want to be taken for granted.”

Mudavadi has also confirmed that the party NDC will be held this month. “I purpose to be on the presidential ballot paper as a person to lead the country from both historical and resurgent political mischief and economic banditry," Mudavadi said.
