Police in Ruaka, Kiambu County on Tuesday morning shot dead two suspected robbers.
A pistol and five bullets were recovered from the deceased, police said.
The Special Service Unit (SSU) boss Pius Gitari told The Standard that a shoot-out ensued after police ordered the duo to surrender at Ruaka Bus Stop area.
“The suspected robbers were driving away in a Toyota Probox, when our officers challenged them to surrender. The suspects retaliated by shooting at our officers. During the exchange of gunfire, our officers shot the suspects dead. However, one of the policemen suffered a gunshot wound,” said Gitari.

A Ceska pistol, suspected to be owned by a police officer, and five bullets were recovered from the duo following the 10:15am shooting, police said.
According to Gitari, the suspects had planned to rob a business premise in Ruaka Town.
Bodies of the suspected robbers were moved to City Mortuary.
