Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga will tomorrow begin a tour of Nyeri County with the climax being an Azimio La Umoja rally on Saturday.
He will be hosted by the Party of National Unity and will hold a series a special interest caucuses in the region. He will meet youth, professional and business people from Mt Kenya.
The events are seen as efforts by Raila to court the vote-rich region. The tour of Nyeri will be the fifth circuit the ODM leader is making in the region.
Raila has in his tours won over the region’s governors Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia), Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua), James Nyoro (Kiambu), Martin Wambora (Embu), Kiraitu Murungi (Meru) and Muthomi Njuki (Tharaka Nithi (Tharaka Nithi) and a number of MPs.

Mr Muriithi, a PNU leader, was the first governor to host Raila in Nanyuki for three days in August, before taking him on a roadshow from Nanyuki through Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a and Kiambu riding in the governor’s official car that culminated in a rally at Githurai.
PNU was also the main host of Raila tour in the region through Nanyuki, Isiolo, Meru and Embu ahead of Mashujaa Day in Kirinyaga last month.
