A youthful man from Utawala, Nairobi was almost lynched on Tuesday, April 20 after he allegedly snatched a phone while aboard a motorcycle.
David Onesmus, an Utawala resident, was speaking on the phone near Bypass area, when the suspect, a pillion passenger, grabbed the device and sped off, with the help of the motorbike rider.
A shocked Onesmus alerted a boda boda operator, who chased and cornered the suspects.
One of the suspects (the rider), however, escaped, leaving behind the pillion passenger.

Irate motorcyclists descended on the suspect with kicks and blows, breaking his two legs in the attack.
However, before the group could lynch the suspect, police arrived and whisked him away.
The Standard understands that the suspect, who was unconscious during rescue, was taken to a nearby hospital.
Boda boda operators in Utawala claim the thieving riders on motorbikes have ruined their (operators’) reputation, and that it is high time police acted.
