The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has arrested a man suspected to have committed murder seven years ago.
The suspect, Samuel Gathongo Maina together with another employee by the name Syombua Mary Rael are accused of having killed Julia Ntheeru Kabura, 85 during a robbery.
Maina and Rael are said to have killed Kabura on December 4, 2013 after breaking into her house and later stealing Sh5,000 and a mobile phone.
Maina, who had been employed by the deceased as a houseboy escaped afterwards and has been in hiding until a homicide team took over the investigation from DCI Igembe South on August 17, 2020.

Maina was arraigned before Meru Senior Principal Magistrate Thomas Muraguri yesterday where in a written affidavit, Peter Kamau an investigating officer attached to DCI Homicide, sought custodial orders of 14 days to complete the probe. The case will be mentioned on September 16, 2020.
