The police in Kisumu have launched investigations into an incident in which a Member of County Assembly is accused of threatening the life of Standard Group journalist.
Market Milimani Ward Representative Seth Kanga (above) reportedly had a confrontation with Kevine Omollo, a journalist based in Kisumu, over a question posed to Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o during a press conference at Maseno University City Campus on Wednesday.
County Criminal Investigations Officer Kipkorir Towett yesterday confirmed that his office has taken up the matter.
“I asked a question in regards to the delay in the disbursement of some Sh200 million which the county government had pledged to residents affected by the impact of the pandemic,” Omollo said.

On April 9, the governor launched a Covid-19 funds drive targeting to raise Sh800 million and pledged Sh200 million from the county government coffers.
On April 25, the governor announced that the executive had drafted a Bill and presented it to the assembly, which would allow for the appropriation of the money.
However, on Tuesday, Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro denied that the Bill had been presented before the assembly.
