A few days ago panic gripped JKIA after an airplane carrying 239 passengers from China landed at the facility.

Workers, health officials and other people present ran for their dear lives after passengers disembarked with face masks.

Media reports indicated that opinion among Kenya Airports Authority officials was sharply divided on whether the flight should be cleared to land or be forced to return to China.

Did this confirm the widely held view that there are two centres of power in the Jubilee government?

While the mandate of KAA, which is a State body, is to ensure the safety of the lives of Kenyans and visitors who use air transport, one could conclude that some officials had received instructions from their masters hence they could violate the law without any fear of any repercussions.

In so doing, they engaged in actions that endangered the lives of fellow Kenyans.

It is worth noting that when things go wrong, Kenyans always lay the blame on the doorsteps of the president.

This is because they elected him to be their national CEO and he has the sword of authority.

Given this scenario, the question that comes to mind is whether the KAA officials were working at the behest of political forces out to discredit his leadership.

We know some forces in both the government and opposition do not like the way he is discharging his constitutional mandate.

The president has since set up a Cabinet ad hoc committee to handle any emergency that may arise.

If it is proved that KAA officials cleared the plane and allowed the passengers on Kenyan soil without conducting requisite medical tests, the State should take firm action against them.
