Coronavirus-related audio from the Health Ministry on Monday
led to fears and confusion among Kenyans on the preparedness of the most recent
killer disease.
However, the concerned ministry cleared the air that the
audio was just but an attempt recorded during a simulation exercise by the
ministry's staff.
"The audio was part of crisis communication training on
Covid-19, in Machakos County over the weekend," read part of the statement
by the Health Ministry.
The ministry has also affirmed that there is no confirmed
case in the country yet. The leaked audio comes only a day after the new Health
CS Mutahi Kagwe cautioned Kenyans against rumor-mongering about the Coronavirus
over the social media.
Last week Kenyatta National Hospital had an uphill task
convincing the public about the false news that had spread about a Coronavirus
case. The hospital stated that the information was not true, asking the society
to ignore it.
