Coronavirus-related audio from the Health Ministry on Monday led to fears and confusion among Kenyans on the preparedness of the most recent killer disease.

However, the concerned ministry cleared the air that the audio was just but an attempt recorded during a simulation exercise by the ministry's staff.

"The audio was part of crisis communication training on Covid-19, in Machakos County over the weekend," read part of the statement by the Health Ministry.

The ministry has also affirmed that there is no confirmed case in the country yet. The leaked audio comes only a day after the new Health CS Mutahi Kagwe cautioned Kenyans against rumor-mongering about the Coronavirus over the social media.

Last week Kenyatta National Hospital had an uphill task convincing the public about the false news that had spread about a Coronavirus case. The hospital stated that the information was not true, asking the society to ignore it.

According to the Health Ministry, the two reported suspects who had been quarantined there on February 28, were declared infection-free.

So far, the epidemic has claimed over 3,000 lives, with the majority being Chinese nationals, from where it first started in late 2019, leaving over 88,0000 infected and spreading to over 60 nations.

Kenya has insisted that passengers arriving from South Korea, Italy, and Iran will be required to undergo two-weeks self-quarantine, while the Foreign Affairs' Ministry thought of other better ways to keep off citizens from the infection menace.
