The embattled Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is somehow a relieved man.

This is after the Employment and Labour Relations court temporarily suspended a motion, which had been aimed at impeaching him [Sonko].

Justice Byram Ongaya, on Monday, directed that the motion should be put on hold.

This is after Sonko wrote an application which sought to stop the County assembly from discussing his impeachment motion, during a session meant for Tuesday.

Sonko, in his application, cited that the legal procedures were not adhered to, when the motion was being drawn, thus terming it as a sham.

With the newest court order, that implies the motion cannot happen unless the mover has served Governor Sonko with a notice, in addition to any documents supporting allegations against him.

In attempts to neutralise maintenance, the court could not allow or ban the debate but only insisted that all legal procedures ought to be followed in raising the matter.
