Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have recovered three firearms and several ammunitions that were stolen from Kamworon Administration Police Post in Aldai, Nandi County.

 “Three Firearms and several ammunitions that were stolen from Administration Police Camp in Nandi South were last night recovered following an intelligence-based operation led by DCI detectives,” tweeted DCI.

Three suspects; Fredrick Khamisi Shivanda, 39, Josphat Hinga Kinyanjui, 47, Stephen Njoroge Mwangi, 44, were arrested during the operations.

According to the DCI, the main suspect Shivanda “was interrogated and led the officers to 47yr-old Gladys Chao, who then led Detectives to unoccupied House where one rifle with 20 ammunition was buried. Further interrogations led the officers to 2 other suspects and recovery of another rifle buried in the farm.”

On the Tuesday night of April 17, the officers had gone to Chepturo trading centre near Kaimosi Teachers College, approximately 4 kilometres from the station, to watch the Champions League quarter-final matches.

On that night Barcelona played against Manchester United and Juventus against Ajax.

When they went back to the police, they found the armoury had already been broken into and three G3 rifles, each loaded with 20 bullets, stolen

Detectives from Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Kakamega Counties were thereafter dispatched to investigate the matter and recover the stolen arms.

The three suspects arrested are currently detained pending further investigations and impending arraignment.
