A man accused of killing his expectant girlfriend has been detained for 14 days to allow conclusion of investigations.
Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan was arrested on April 30 at about 8.30pm in Pangani area following allegations that he seriously assaulted his pregnant girlfriend who later died while in hospital. In a sworn affidavit, the investigating officer said the victim sustained injuries that led loss of a lot of blood.
The victim, according to the supporting affidavit, was rescued by neighbours who rushed to Pumwani Maternity hospital, where she was treated.
Her condition deteriorated and she was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.
Police asked for two weeks to conclude their investigation.

They said the time would help them obtain postmortem examination forms, medical reports and statement recording of witnesses.
The suspect did not object to the application.
Makadara Chief Magistrate Hestone Nyaga granted the request and ordered that the suspect be detained at Pangani Police Station.
