The National Integrity Identity Management System (NIIMS) registration exercise is progressing well in Mombasa County.
Key government installations that offer critical services like the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) will have NIIMs staff visiting them at their respective work places to register them.
Yesterday, a team of NIIMS officials visited the KRA Southern Region headquarters at Long Room and started the registration process.
KRA Southern Region Coordinator, Nicholas Kinoti led hundreds of KRA staff in registering where he lauded the government for allowing KRA staff to enrol at their work station.
Coast Regional Commissioner (RC) John Elungata accompanied by Mombasa County Commissioner (CC) Evans Achoki toured several areas in the coastal city to supervise the biometric registration exercise that began on Tuesday across the country.

''We are calling on the general public to come out in large numbers to enrol for the biometric identity scheme that will propel Kenya into the digital age,'' Elungata.
He said NIIMS better known as ‘Huduma Namba’ will enable Kenyans to easily access vital government services and urged residents to support the programme.
Upon registration, one will be given a Huduma Namba which will assign a personal unique identification to facilitate issuance of government services.
Elungata said the 45-day exercise that seeks to register all Kenyans in the new digital database was also going on well in Kwale, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Lamu and Tana River counties.
Mikindani area Chief Ima Matano Mzee who hosted the RC and the CC at the Bangladesh informal settlement said residents were embracing the programme and registration activities were going on well.
Jomvu sub county Deputy County Commissioner Paul Kinyanjui said 70 registration clerks were going door to door to register resident and that they don’t anticipate any hitches.
On her part Mvita sub county assistant county commissioner Lydia Munyi said the exercise is going on well.
Mombasa Huduma Centre Manager Alex Mureithi said many people have been flocking to the centre to register.
''We have been recording a huge turnout since President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the exercise,'' Mureithi said.
He said the Huduma Centre in the central business district has become very popular with members of the public attracting a higher number of residents.
