“Following a series of reported cases of Robbery with Violence and gang rape of @Maseno_Uni students-#DCI Detectives yesterday acting on a tip-off arrested 9 suspects,” said a tweet by the DCI.
The detectives also recovered an assortment of weapons which included pangas and claw bars.
Other suspects escaped but are being pursued by detectives.
Late last year, Vincent Kiplang’at, a third-year art student was attacked at his rented residence in the outskirts of Maseno town.
The Campus Secretary in-charge of Sports and Entertainment at the Students Organisation of Maseno University (SOMU) was robbed and left with deep cuts alongside his roommate in the 2 am incident.
