Who is protecting thugs in a county that neighbor Nairobi? That’s the question police officers are asking after three suspects; two men and a woman in their twenties were released in unclear circumstances.
The three youngsters were arrested last month following an alarm raised by members of the public when they attempted to kidnap a businesswoman at the county headquarters.
When police searched their vehicle, they discovered a cache of arms that included three magazines of ammunition and a scorpion firearm. The three were then detained at the local police station, also nabbed was their top of the range vehicle, a V8 that is black in colour.
However a phone call from a senior DCI officer from the region secured their release on a cash bail of Sh30,000 each after the youngster allegedly called their father, a tycoon who was then in Mombasa to intervene.
