Kisumu Governor, Anyang Nyong'o has resumed work, 14 days after he fell sick during the inauguration of Kisumu Arch Diocese head Phillip Anyolo.

Prof Nyong'o chaired a cabinet meeting yesterday. County Director of Communication Alloice Ager said the governor, who was hold up in meetings for the better part of yesterday, was in good health and ready to serve the electorate.

Mr Ager assured that, Nyong'o was discharged from a Nairobi hospital on Tuesday last week, and has had enough rest.

He landed in Kisumu on Thursday to a warm reception by a section of the assembly leadership led by Speaker Onyango Oloo and and county staff.

"In fact the governor started working from his Nairobi office before he came back to Kisumu. He is strong and is ready to continue with the work he has been doing," he said.

Ager downplayed claims about the governor's health on social media. "Those allegations do not hold water and I would not wish to even discuss them. A lot has been said, which do not deserve any response," he added.

Ager said Nyong'o was now focusing on delivering election pledges to the electorate and dismissed reports by the Controller of Budget which indicated that the county spent zero per cent on development in the first quota of the current financial year.

He explained that Kisumu spent or committed Sh358 million, out of the Sh1.1 billion on development.

Ager announced that the Nyong'o's administration has signed an agreement with contractors which will see them clear work within agreed time, and get payment within 60 days of handing over, or face specific penalties which includes surcharging them.
