Two key suspects in an exam-cheating ring have been arrested.
Emanuel Nkonina and Shaban Omar Ouma were presented in separate courts yesterday as investigations and the hunt for more suspects continued.
Nkonina was detained at Ngong Police Station until November 12 while Ouma, who was arrested in Karen area, Nairobi, was presented at the Milimani Law Courts and released on Sh200,000 cash bail.
Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed said the two were arrested on Wednesday night during a multi-agency operation conducted by the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) and the police.
The operation aimed to protect the integrity of the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

The seizure of the two men adds to the growing number of arrests of suspects accused of tampering with the examinations. In Kakamega, five suspects on Wednesday appeared before Principal Magistrate Hazel Wandere charged with involvement in exam malpractices.
Salim Mango, Press Dence, Nelson Sakwa, Nessy Georgious and Mosy Modician, teachers at Shamta Academy, were said to have been found with leaked materials for the mathematics paper on November 6, which they were giving to students.
They denied the charges and were granted Sh50,000 bond.
In Kisii, 15 suspects linked to various exam malpractices at Monianku Secondary School in South Mugirango were earlier this week remanded for five days.
The suspects, who were arrested on Monday, are being held at Nyamarambe Police Station. Defence Lawyer Ondieki Kerosi told Senior Resident Magistrate Margaret Makokha that the suspects had yet to be served with court documents pertaining to the case.
