The Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) on Friday, March 23 held its annual Cultural Week which was wrapped up by the Mr and Miss MMU 2018 Gala Night at the Bomas of Kenya. Following a night of exclusive fun, judges reached two finalists, V Richard Oloo and Mercygrace Kavata for MR. MMU and Miss MMU respectively.

The results, however, did not seem to satisfy many followers including the University’s alumni who thought the two were not the best in the entire contest. They took to social media to voice their protests.
Most of the comments from the institution’s social media pages showed displeased followers who demanded to know the criteria used to arrive at the two, especially for Miss Kavata who is also Miss Westlands 2017 second runners up.

These are some of the raised concerns;
As a result of this, a considered cyberbullying case, Miss Kavata’s boyfriend, professional Dance Choreographer Gassizo Kenya (as appears on Facebook) came to her defense. In an emotional message to the cyber bullies, Gassizo said Miss Kavata doesn’t deserve all the negative energy. He asked the bullies to quit and let the beauty be.
“If you believe that she didn't deserve the crown then come for it and leave us alone. She’s hurt enough,” read part of his message.
Miss Kavata in response to the troll said she considers herself a very beautiful girl who carries her head up high when walking in the streets of school. To her, she is set to prove all the bullies wrong.
