Kenyans online had many questions following developments about the 25-year-old who is said to have been conning Members of Parliament using Murang’a Women Rep Sabina Chege’s name.
This is after Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti told the National Assembly Security Committee they had found that there are special relationships between the suspect and the complainants.

On Thursday, March 22, after in-depth investigations, the DCI revealed that Wazir Chacha, alias Benson Chacha used Sabina’s identity to extort money from her fellow legislators through MPesa.

“He used an ID number of a former MP to register an MPesa account in the name of Sabina Wanjiku Chege. He did this in Donholm and we have all the details,” Kinoti reported.
During the briefing, the DCI mentioned that investigations showed the conman was known to his victims. The scam fooled Speaker Justin Muturi who sent Ksh 300,000, Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya, Eugene Wamalwa, Margaret Kobia and Sicily Kariuki.
"We have carried in-depth investigations on this matter and come to the conclusion that there is a special relationship between complaints (MPs) and the suspect which I may not be comfortable discussing in public,” Mr. Kinoti said.
The ‘special relation’ bit raised eyebrows as Kenyans on Twitter rushed out to question what special relations the DCI was referring to.

What many missed is the fact that investigations on Chacha were not only based on Sabina’s case but on all lawmakers who had fallen victim. To the DCI, the relationship was not between Sabina and Chacha but all who have fallen victim to his ploy.
This is not the first time Chacha is making headlines with the most recent leakage of photos between him and former Bomet Woman Representative Cecilia Ng'etich touched the internet. Chacha then claimed Cecilia had used and dumped him on Valentine’s Day.

Chacha still remains at large and reports are he was last seen in Ruiru on Wednesday.
