A speech that was allegedly delivered by the 2017 KCPE top girl at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has caused a storm.
MMUST comrades and 2017 graduating lot went on to demand for an apology following the speech made by Goldalyn Kakuya who held the first position in the 2017 national primary examinations (KCPE) with 455 marks out of the possible 500.
“I congratulate all of the graduands who have made it today. I wish you well in your new endeavors and ensure you remain ethical as you pursue your courses,” she had said.
Some of the graduands however termed the move by the administration to even offer her an opportunity to speak to the gathering was embarrassing.

MMUST’s Director of Communication, Dr Bob Mbori, said “We would like to clarify Ms Kakuya, a former student of St Annes Junior School in Kakamega County, a school close to the university, was invited to the academic ceremony to be rewarded for her exemplary performance. She was not invited as the chief guest,” read part of the statement.
